Leanne Siracusa - Policy & Political Action

 

Leanne SiracusaLeanne has been the Lead for Policy and Political Action on the CHNIG executive since April 2009. She has been an active member of RNAO, CHNIG and more recently the Hamilton Chapter.  Leanne has become involved in anti-poverty initiatives on behalf of CHNIG and the Hamilton Chapter.  She earned a BScN from McMaster University and MEd from University of Toronto.

Leanne’s nursing career started at Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.  Most of her nursing experience has been in the community in a variety of public health programs.  She has experience both as a public health nurse and as manager in the large health units of Scarborough (Toronto) and Hamilton.  As a manager in Hamilton, she collaborated with faculty at McMaster University in research and education activities. Currently, Leanne is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the School of Nursing at McMaster University where she teaches all levels of the BScN program, particularly courses in community health nursing.  She also taught at Lambton College in Sarnia where she gained many different perspectives of community health from living and working in Southwestern Ontario.

Leanne received the RNAO Leadership in Political ACtion Award for 2012 for recognizing her work with the Hamilton Chapter, CHNIG exectuive and McMaster nursing students.
