Christine Joy Quizon - Student Representative
Christine is currently completing her final year of consolidation/integrated practicum in the collaborative program for Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing at York University. She will be graduating in June 2012 with licensure to follow. Her interest in Community Nursing stems from her personal experiences as a client and her practicum experiences as a nursing student.
Christine recognizes the shifting emphasis of healthcare towards prevention and coordinated care which means that nursing care will be in greater demand in the community setting. She believes that there are great challenges and opportunities in community health nursing awaiting her fellow nursing students and future graduates.
Christine is passionate about being involved in the community, be it in her neighbourhood, work, or school. She has devoted her time and resources in various settings, such as hospitals, church, nursing homes, shelters, and schools, helping various age groups and backgrounds. She has also coordinated youth programs, outreach projects and fundraisers to let the community know that there are people who care. It is her hope, that she will encourage other nursing students to get involved in their communities and share their valuable skills, talents and creativity as a resource for community health nursing. She invites you in making a difference in the lives of people in our communities.
