Fireside Chats - Emergency Preparedness, Climate Change and Health Webinar
Posted on Jan 30, 2012
Webinar On Feb 14th from 12pm to 1:30pm
At the dawn of the 21st century, climate change is considered one of the most serious threats facing humanity today. Although plagued by unknowns and uncertainties, Canadians can expect a more variable climate and as a direct result, most experts now agree that climate change will have far reaching effects on public health. Public health practitioners and emergency management officials have begun to develop plans and practices that are reflective of the possible climate health impacts. This webinar will review current regional perspectives including flooding and forest fires to provide public health and health care providers and researchers with information and tools to optimise program planning.

Posted on Jan 26, 2012
This Fireside Chat will engage participants in a conversation about why dental care doesn't get its due in public health policy. We know the issue is often ignored by governments and the health policy community in general, but why is this the case?
Data will be presented on: the scope of oral health inequalities in Canada; the logic behind current dental care policy; how the public view oral heath and dental care from an equity perspective; and how dental care ranks among other uninsured services with respect to public preferences for governmental spending.
