02 Aug Action Alert: Support Life-Saving Supervised Injection Services

Your voice makes a difference!

Let’s keep the pressure on provincial Health Minister, Deb Matthews, urging her to fund for supervised injection services (SIS).

Toronto’s Board of Health became the first governing board in the province to support SIS when it voted 6 to 2 to accept the recommendations of Toronto Public Health.

Advocating on your behalf, and on behalf of people living with mental health and addiction challenges, RNAO’s CEO, Doris Grinspun, made adeputation to the Toronto Board of Health in support of Toronto Public Health’s recommendations to oppose federal Bill C-65 and support provincial SIS funding

This issue is not just Toronto-centric.

We know that we need to improve access to health services for people facing mental health and addiction challenges throughout the province. The integration of SIS services into existing clinical health services for people who use drugs is a pragmatic way to reduce overdose deaths and improve the health of individuals and their communities.

Many of your colleagues have already taken action…

What can YOU do?

Sign the RNAO Action Alert to provincial Health Minister Deb Matthews to urge funding for SIS. Copies will also be sent to leaders of the Liberal, Progressive Conservative and New Democratic parties.
