This seminar is: Patient and Nurse Partnering to Optimize Pain Management, Nov. 21, 2013 with Martha Karn RN, BScN, CONC, CHPCN.

Objectives:

  1. Review the basic pain terminology
  2. Gain understanding of pain anatomy and physiology
  3. Articulate approaches to comprehensive assessment of cancer pain and associated symptoms along the cancer continuum
  4. Apply evidence-informed pharmacological approaches to manage cancer pain
  5. Demonstrate effective communication techniques and strategies for pain management with patients, families, and other health professionals
