Communications
- Assess and provide for communication needs of members re: CHNIG goals.
- Develop external media releases and disseminate information to our members and the public using a variety of means.
- Develop and produce promotional material re: CHNIG and CHNs.
- Arrange promotional activities to increase the visibility of CHNs.
- Assist and support other teams in communicating about issues to the membership and the community at large.
- Assess and make recommendations via electronic and internet communication with members (e.g., e-mail, website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).

Member Benefits
- Assist with selection of professional development bursaries, (advertise, review applications, and make selections).
- Maintain membership lists and work closely with RNAO in the administration of membership lists.
- Monitor and respond to calls from members and non-members regarding the role and activities of and benefits of membership in CHNIG.
- Recognise the contributions of individual members (e.g., retiring executive members).
- Develop and produce promotional material.
- Arrange promotional activities to increase the profile of CHNs.
- Participate in requests mandated by the Board and participate in Board meetings.

Nursing Students
- Offer a student perspective to the discussion of community health issues.
- Work collaboratively with BOD members to respond to community health nursing educational issues.
- Liaise with the Canadian Nurses Students’ Association (CNSA) and the provincial Nursing Students’ Interest Group (Nursing Students of Ontario – NSO) on a regular basis.
- Promote CHNIG and RNAO’s perspectives, links, resources and awards to peers in nursing programs.
- Contribute to the student column for the newsletter and CHNIG social media platforms.

Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA) Liaison
- Represent CHNIG viewpoint on various OPHA initiatives.
- Review OPHA BOD materials in advance of OPHA meeting to determine agenda items most relevant to CHNIG policies/activities.
- Attend and particiapte in CHNIG BOD meetings.
- Keep BOD up to date on OPHA activities and recommend action as necessary.
- Promote CHNIG by contributing to OPHA activities including contributions to communications such as OPHA Newsletters.

Policy & Political Action
- Provide leadership for political action activities within CHNIG and respond to RNAO Action Alerts.
- Establish relationships with key political leaders in all parties and network with other stakeholders in collaboration with the President.
- Recommend a course of action on policy issues to the Executive Committee.
- Advise RNAO on emerging issues.
- Lobby senior administrators, politicians, and other decision-makers.

Governance
- Establish project teams to accomplish identified work at the request of the BOD.
- Ensure policies and procedures are reviewed on the selected review schedule.
- Maintain an electronic record of approved and in-review policies and procedures.
- Ensure legal and risk management issues are considered and documented in BOD policies and procedures.
- Maintain documentation of CHNIG Annual Returns & other relevant legal documents.
- Actively particpate in BOD meetings and events.

Professional Nursing Practices
- Monitor developments in sub sectors of community health nursing practice (e.g Home health and public health).
- Develop position statements on community health nursing practices.
- Give input to RNAO on nursing practice issues as they relate to CHNs.
- Identify professional practice issues relevant to community health nursing and bring forward to CHNIG Executive.
- Meet with CHNIG members via teleconference or webinar throughout the year to connect with other nurses and discuss current issues in community health – all CHNIG members are welcome to attend!

Secretary
- In collaboration with the President and President-Elect/Past President, prepare and disseminate agenda for BOD meetings.
- Take minutes in meetings and circulate them around the BOD once approved.
- Keep records of all proceedings of CHNIG including record of all meetings of CHNIG.
- Carry out administrative duties as assigned by the President.
- Distribute and ensure annual completion of an Accountability Agreement by all new Executive Committee members.
- Maintain a master file of active, and original Accountability Agreements.

Research, Education and Professional Development
- Monitor developments in research and education of CHNs.
- Provide professional development opportunities relevant to community health nurses, such as the Health Promotion Seminar Series.
- Support the ongoing education of CHNs.
- Develop position statements on research and education issues as necessary.
- Give input to RNAO on research and education issues as they relate to CHNs.
- Represent CHNIG on related committees as requested by the President or Executive Committee.

Treasurer
- Advise BOD on matters of finance and fundraising.
- Ensure appropriate financial policies are in place, adhered to, and documented.
- Produce and ensure regular review and development of a Sustainability Plan for the organisation, in partnership with Finance Committee and the BOD
- Report to the Board at each meeting on the organisation’s financial situation and any variances from the approved budget.
- Report to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the financial situation of CHNIG.
- Chair the Finance Committee.
- Issue and sign cheques for payment of authorised expenditures.
- Oversee the organisation’s bookkeeping and banking – all monies received and expended.

President Elect/Past President
- In the absence of the President, carry out the President role.
- Conducts regular environmental scans & share observations, insights, opinions & recommendations with the board &/or executive committee to further the corporation’s objectives.
- With the Secretary, prepare the agenda in advance of meetings.
- Serve on committees as required.
- Chair the Nominations Committee & receive nominations for positions to the Board.

- Provide leadership to the organization.
- Works in partnership with the BOD to ensure the organization’s objectives, goals & mission are followed.
- Ensures appropriate policies are in place.
- Chair CHNIG meetings in accordance with policies.
- Report to the AGM on the status of the organization.

- Oversee the management of the BOD.
- With the Treasurer, ensure the organization’s financial control procedures are adequate & risk management strategies are in place.
- Represent the organization at external events and serve as spokesperson where and when appropriate.
