11 Mar Feedback Requested for Draft Public Health Competencies Greetings CHNC members: In 2013, the Canadian Association of Schools
Greetings CHNC members:
In 2013, the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) in partnership with the Community Health Nurses of Canada (CHNC) began developing competencies that detail the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed in public health that all nurses should possess upon completing an undergraduate nursing degree at a Canadian school.
The competency development is part of a three-year project funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, with the goal of strengthening public health in nursing education. Following the completion of an environmental scan of public health nursing education and practice in Canada, competencies were drafted by a Task Force of public health nursing experts, and then reviewed at a Stakeholder Forum by 40 individuals from public health nursing education, practice and policy.
As a final step to ensure that the competencies are appropriate for integration into the schools of nursing curricula, we would be very grateful for your feedback. We would greatly appreciate if you
can complete an online questionnaire on the draft public health competencies: http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/casnacesi/draft-public-health-competencies/
The questionnaire will be open until Wednesday, March 26th,2014.
For your reference on the concepts and language used in the competency document, a draft glossary of terms is attached here.
Thank you for your time!
