- Define a professional practice model.
- Describe the context and development of the professional practice model.
- Explain the Canadian Community Health Nursing Professional Practice Model.
- Describe the application of the model.
PRESENTER:
Ruth Schofield, RN, BScN, MSc(T), has been an Assistant Professor for 14 years in undergraduate community health nursing education. Ruth has over 23 years of public health nursing practice and administration. Her research is in community health nursing, nursing education, mental health and housing and includes a number of peer-review publications. Ruth has held various professional nursing leadership roles including, President of Community Health Nurses of Canada and Community Health Nurses’ Initiatives Group of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), as well as, committee chair for the revisions of the Canadian community health nursing standards of practice (2011), the development of the professional practice model visual (2013), and the development of the public health nursing discipline specific competences (2009) and home health nursing competences (2010).
