12 Mar Opportunity to Participate in Research Study

Describing the contribution and value of public health nurses to health system outcomes in Ontario
On behalf of the research team, we would like to invite you to take part in our research study that aims to describe the value of Public Health Nurses (PHNs, practitioners and formal leaders) to health care system outcomes in Ontario from the perspective of those who enact these roles.
YOU ARE INVITED TO VOLUNTEER IF YOU ARE:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Ontario,
- Employed full-time or part-time as a Public Health Nurse in Ontario (either front-line or formal leadership/management or Nursing Practice Quality Assurance roles),
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in above roles,
- A member of the Ontario Association of Public Health Nurse Leaders (OPHNL) or Community Health Nurses Interest Group (CHNIG),
- Available for a telephone interview between March and April 2017.
WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO DO:
Part 1: Online Survey -involves questions about your contact information, your role and geographic area where you work and should take about 5 minutes to complete. Please note that only a portion of online survey participants will be selected (20 PHNs and 10 leaders/managers) and you may or may not be contacted for the subsequent interview. If you are interested in participating in the study, please complete the brief survey using the following link: https://survey.ryerson.ca:443/s?s=5939 . The survey will remain open until the full sample is achieved or until April 30, 2017 at 1500 hrs.
Part 2: Telephone or Skype Interview – will take place at a time convenient to you. The interview will include questions about the unique contributions of nurses, the value they add to the system, current measures of outcomes that are affected by PHN practice and factors that influence the achievement of these outcomes. The interview will last approximately 60 minutes and will be recorded. To ensure confidentiality and anonymity, research team members Maureen Cava (OPHNL) and Joanne Crawford (CHNIG) will not have access to any of the online survey data, will not interview any participants and will only have access to interview transcripts after personal identifiers have been removed.
Participation is completely voluntary and your decision to participate (or not to) will not have any negative impact your standing or relationship with your colleagues and professional community.
POTENTIAL BENEFITS: There are no direct benefits to participating in the online survey and possibly the individual interview other than the knowledge that you are contributing to our understanding of the value and contributions of PHNs to health system outcomes.
